I'm a relative newbie in the world of skincare and would love to get input from you guys. This last year I've had some troublesome acne problems and I'm getting serious about treating it. I generally have two types of acne- CC's and cystic. The cystic is mostly gone after using Tactuo (pump version, adapalene 1.5% BHP) fairly religiously but I keep applying due to some pretty deep problem areas. That is the only medicated skincare product I am using other than occasionally a touch of polysporin when I get REALLY bad open bleeding pimples.
My routine is as follows; Clean and Clear Advantage Plus 3-in-1 (5% BHA exfoliant/cleanser hybrid) in the morning, followed by Vichy Normaderm face wash, followed by Nivea purifying toner. After using the toner I use a dermatological tool to remove any whiteheads (usually CC's surfacing- I have a moderate amount) and then apply the Tactuo. I wait 10 minutes, apply Cerave Moisturising Cream (the kind in the bottle), then sunscreen, then do my makeup. I use Garnier BB as a primer, dunno if that is relevant. Nighttime routine is the same, except removing the BHA exfoliant, sunscreen, and BB cream.
So far my skin is doing okay with using 2 benzozyl peroxide products so long as I liberally moisturise- if it burns I just stop with the BHA for a day or two. I spot treat any recently harvested pores with Tactuo immediately. My CC's have improved a bit and are coming out easily with the dermatological tool, but it may be too early (~4 weeks) to see if there's any real, sustained improvement.
To the good people of skincare addiction, are there any steps I need to add or remove from my routine? I should add that I do get the occasional 'problem' area where the pimple turns weepy, inflamed, and red for some time after it's been treated- which has led to some hyperpigmentation on my skin. Is there anything other than moisturising regularly that can help this?
Thanks so much in advance!
