Hello, I posted over at r/SkinCareAddicts and someone suggested I try over here as it's more active. Below is what I posted and I'll comment underneath from what I learned since making that post.

Hi! So I'm making a lifestyle change and trying to take care of myself a lot better. I've done pretty good on improving my diet and losing weight, now my next focus is my skin. I'm probably going to end up seeing a dermatologist in the future but I want to see if I can first figure out some things on my own. I'm hoping someone here can give me some tips on products and routine. A little bit about me, I'm a 25 year old nursing mother. However I am going to start weaning in two months. I have had acne since I was 10. My skin is also very dry. My face gets flaky if I don't use moisturizer. My face(especially cheeks) is pretty red and I get a lot of tiny whiteheads on my cheeks and chin. I also have really bad acne on my back. Big, ugly, red bumps everywhere. I've been told by a doctor that it's not acne but an allergic reaction. This is because medicine I took for a rash also cleared literally every bump on my skin and helped with the redness. But then when I got pregnant, it also cleared every little bump on my skin. Which would make me think it's a hormone thing....In that regards, I was on birth control pills for several years before I had a baby. Now after the baby I have the nexplanon implant. I don't really think either of those helped the acne. No way of knowing if they could be making it worse as I've haven't been off birth control long enough to see a difference. My routine is shower daily and use a bar of dove soap. I was told(by a doctor) as a teenager that dove is the best soap for acne. I was also told(not by a real doctor) to only use my hands because loofahs or rags will just irritate the bumps. I use face moisturizer after the shower because my face is always really tight and dry after a shower. For makeup I normally use neutrogena mineral powder to cover all the redness. Every once in a while I'll experiment with other makeup because my face always looks powdery. But I haven't found anything better. Honestly, I'm not currently trying anything to help my acne. And I rarely wash my face at night. I plan on starting to do that. I'm going shopping tomorrow and will look for some skincare products. Any recommendations? Or is there anything else I should be doing to improve my skin? Thanks!!

So I've been suggested to use either Cera Ve or Cetaphil products several times. I've learned that Dove is the worst soap ever so I'm going to buy soap by either Cera Ve or Cetaphil. I already have some face moisturizer, a new brand that I just bought and I've seen an improvement since using it, I'll give it some time. But when it runs out I'll consider switching to the famous Cera Ve or Cetaphil. I also learned I need to be using something like Aquaphor to lock in the moisture after I put on moisturizer. And I'm going to work on not taking scalding hot showers.

There was one thing I really didn't emphasize... My backne! I'm still unsure what to do to clear up my back. I've learned so much about my face and I'm sure I can possibly use that knowledge to work on my back. But is there any additional product I should purchase to clear my backne?

Thanks!
