Skin type: dry? I can splash my face with cold water and it still comes away feeling kind of "tight" and dry. My lips are the Sahara desert without EOS balms, and my face feels best when I wake up (slightly oily) or when it's hot outside (slightly sweaty) or obviously after I moisturize. I frequently have small dry patches of very tiny dry scales. You can't really see them unless I attempt to physically exfoliate or wear foundation/concealer.
Current routine:
Morning:
- maybe splash with tolerably temperaturized water yes that's a word now
- 4 drops jojoba oil over damp face to moisturize
Evening:
- jojoba oil to remove makeup
- Pond's wet cleansing towelettes to remove dirty residue
- usually rinse face again with cold water and pat dry
- Stridex max, let sit for ~30 minutes
- optional Mint Julep masque (once or twice a week)
- 5 drops jojoba oil to moisturize
- 10% micro-benzoyl peroxide if necessary, which is increasingly "no" since I started this routine
The last product I added in was the Stridex just under two weeks ago, and even though I haven't been using it strictly every day because ain't nobody always got time for that, I've noticed that I've begun purging current acne spots (but not getting new acne) and that my face feels so smooth you could take dating lessons from it.
However, I still have some scaly spots, so here are my questions - would a weekly* AHA treatment help clear up the scales? Would it also help the dry skin be not so dry? Is my skin actually dry or is it dehydrated? How would an AHA work with my oil moisturizing? Hell, how does my BHA work with oil moisturizing?
* I'm paler than pale and my family has a history of various cancers, including sun-based cancer and even sun allergies, so I want to keep it weekly to reduce photosensitivity to the absolute minimum.
