Wearing one at work right now, and people just stare at it. I feel like it’s “faux pas”.

No, because when someone sees a pimple they think oh they have a pimple. When they see a patch they think, what weird ass contagious disease does this person have. It's distracting, and that's not a look you want to have at work.
