Rewatching the series and not a Meri fan …but:

Kody/Robyn/Christine/Janelle: “Meri - if you want this family house …you have to go it alone. YOU are on your own.”

Meri: “I’m gonna go it alone!” Goes off, gets approved for financing. “Can I have help for a $40k loan?”

K/R/C/J: “We have the money to loan you for the down payment!”

Meri: “Okay, I’m ready for the loan.”

K/R/C/J: “Show us your business plan! What room is your mom going to take over? You must give us an equity stake!”

(Wait, didn’t they say she was completely on her own over and over and over again?)

Kody: Goes to meet with Brian his partner …they need to liquidate a BAD business decision failure and didn’t realize they had other commitments to pay.

K/R/C/J: Pouncing on Meri about equity and her business plan KNOWING there’s no money that could be lent out anyways?!

Meri: Pursues solo financing and closes on home.

K/R/C/J: “How dare you NOT include us?! We are family?!”

It looks like the adults took pleasure in torturing and isolating and punishing Meri. This is a similar manifestation of what I imagine the ring melting must have been like.

Good for Meri …that she figured it out on her own. It gave her the freedom to run her own life/escape. Is this really all about Meri? It’s a family homestead, isn’t it? Wouldn’t Meri (if she stayed in the family) give this property eventually to all the Brown kids?

“I’m confused?” (Said in Robyn-ese)

Also, are we sure there was a sound business plan with “My Sister Wives’ Closet?”

I’m with Meri on this one - “F*ck you all. If aren’t a part of the solution …I’m walking away.” This must have been especially hard on the tail of the catfish.

I see Meri dragged out the catfish situation but I don’t know that folks ever heard Meri of how she was vulnerable to be groomed as a victim. Also, (not forgiving her for her actions) …she was so lonely and so disconnected. Some of this is her own making …but she was an “empty nester” that had NO formal role in the family when Leon left that I’m seeing play out in a rewatch. The Maddie wedding she was struggling to find her place. Axel’s birth was a bigger deal because of the broader context where she wasn’t in the room for the birth.
