Bring back the anthropologists to document and report on the danger of putting minor children on reality television - leveraging the OG13 experience.
What does it do to a child to have your life broadcast without your consent? Whatâs it like to have strangers recognize you? Whatâs it like to perhaps have your worst day broadcast as popcorn fodder for watchers? Whatâs it like to have zero consent and zero compensation?
THIS RESEARCH and case study should pave the way to ban children under 18 from participating in reality television.
At minimum, just how child stars with an agent requires financial protection from potentially unscrupulous or clueless parents.
The children had cameras invade their home for decades and they didnât even get a dime or a trust set up in their name!!!!
Kody claims he âprovidesâ for his children but weâve just seen some janky broke-down cars that get passed around/no health insurance/TLC paying for the weddings. College spending was incredibly nebulous and seemingly inconsistent based on the Leon college choice debacle where a finance expert had to convince Kody that borrowing for a college education is equivalent to a mortgage. A few of the boys went to the military and got school funding that way; did Hunter get his âshareâ of his child star salary when he came of age even if he didnât need the family to give him money for college?
Maybe this could spur a movement to protect more children or stipulate the production/network provide counseling for CHILDREN to have such an unhealthy environment AND be filmed their whole life. I mean - nobody would watch a show of a mundane, regular family on television. The whole point of a reality show is a carnival side-show to gawk at in disbelief.
