I've been rewatching season 16 in the background this week, and was really struck yet again during the scene where Gabe talks to Kody on Coyote Pass while they're doing something (???) with the logs.
Gabe handled a tough conversation so maturely, and with so much emotional intelligence. The way he was able to say things like "I shared my emotions with you, I was vulnerable with you. You can do the same without getting angry" is so incredible to me. I know this is nothing new to this sub, but I was just reflecting on how remarkable these kids are. It is so hard to have a conversation like this with a parent who is yelling, berating your mom, dismissing your opinions, etc., and to still maintain your composure. Major kudos to Janelle and Christine for clearly raising their children with these communication skills.

I went no contact with my dad in March of 2023, and so watching these boys struggle with being abandoned by Kody really strikes a chord with me.
I initially missed Garrison holding back tears too. But what did stick out to me was him in one scene saying "we don't need Dad" while his facial expression and voice hesitated a bit. Like he was trying to convince himself that he wasn't hurt by Kody. I've been there, and it sucks. And can only imagine how much more painful it feels when it's not private at all.
