Struggling with new butt plug

I bought a new butt and without looking at the size properly I went for a large, once it arrived it was much bigger than I expected it’s 7.5inches girth much bigger than I am used too
I’ve been trying to get it in for a few weeks now have breaks in between trying to let my hole recover from being stretched, I like than it’s making me work to wear it and i didnt get a smaller one that slid right in
Anyone else had the same problem with buying a toy too big?
