Post Body

Has anyone built a barndo somewhere around the area, or know someone who has? My husband and I are considering it, since it seems we will never be able to afford the home of our dreams in our lifetime (or at least until I am past child bearing age), and we would like to settle and start a family within the next year or so. With rent forever increasing, we need to get something of our own.

After the Parade of Homes, I’ve realized how the main living floor is always so crowded and small, but the basements are spacious. In a barndo, the main floor and living space is so spacious, which is what we want. I feel like that’s tough to find in modern homes.

I keep hearing/reading/seeing that barndos are more affordable to build and when it comes to operational expenses, such as electricity, water, etc, as well. Any other important information and/or referrals would be so appreciated!

TIA!

Anyone who tells you or thinks a barndo is cheaper than a house has zero idea when it comes to construction cost.
