Toddler Daycare/Montessori Between Cities

Looking for some advice here. Soon I will be looking at relocating to a city 45 minutes away from the city my ex and I live in currently. Our child is 2 years and we both agree that having daycare/Montessori would be really good for his development, socialization, and make working from home easier.

My ex is pushing me to stay in the current city, but at this point, I don't know if I'll have to return to the office or not at the end of the year or later and I'm the only source of income (also this is a very new job that I was pulled into due to company acquisition). Her reasoning is that living between two cities is very disruptive for our child, which I feel like sure could be a lot of stress and something for him to adapt to, I think while he is young it's easier to try these changes to see if they work or not.

How have others done this? Do the parents pay for daycare in different cities? Do you feel like your children had trouble making friendships and socializing due to differences?

All advice is welcome, Im also open to DMs.. I don't know any other single parents that I can reach out to and just have a conversation with. :/
