help with outdoor retreat

I can NOT gel with this pack. I've been backwards and forwards to the hermits house on five different vacations and stayed in the hermits house for multiple days & there is no sign of the hermit, it's driving me mad. Any ideas?
I ALSO have only found one unidentifiable plant and can't find any ever again 😠I just assumed I was going in the wrong seasons but now I've been in spring and summer and there just are not any plants that are harvestable. I'm frustrated please help me
