I haven't patched the game yet, so I'm still on version 1.80. The game runs at 1920x1080, while my Windows desktop is at 3840x2160. Desktop scaling is at 250%. GPU is an RX 580 8GB.
Set like that, the first attempt at running after a reboot the game will constantly minimize to the desktop. I never even get to see the EA logo. If I turn desktop scaling off, the game will run.
Assume that after that session, I restore desktop scaling. If auto scaling was set, the UI is now unreasonably huge, with a warning that I should turn auto scaling off. I do that, and the UI is of a proper size, but the mouse pointer is still the same huge size. To get that back, I need to go to windowed mode and back to fullscreen. I now have a proper sized cursor. If auto scaling stays off for another session, the UI is correct, but the cursor is still too big. I still have to do the windowed and back to fullscreen.
As far as I've seen, Sims 4 is the only game in my library doing this weirdness. I tested Portal 2, which is also set to run at 1080p, and it was fine.
The biggest part of this is my mixing resolutions, a 4K desktop and 1080p games. 1080p all the way and none of the above happens. 4K all the way, and my GPU complains. Screen flickering, etc. Probably could use a newer and better HDMI cable.
