First legacy challenge.

So Iām doing my first legacy challenge and Iām super confused. I keep seeing things about āsuccession lawsā online but have no idea how that relates to the game lol. Iām on gen 6 and playing on ps5 if thatās relevant. Iām just not sure if itās something I just keep up with or if itās something that tracks in game .Do I just make it up as I go?
