Changing name after being Amritdhari

Post Body

Hi everyone I am scheduled for becoming Amritdhari on Saturday. I am a convert so I don’t have a Sikh name. Some say it is mandatory to change your name from the hukka and some not so anyone know? I am almost sure I want to but not fully yet. Anyone have advice or experience let me know please!

Also tips or advice for the whole Amrit process! I don’t have a gurdwara in my area so my Sikh terminology (my Sikh friends are always working and busy so I don’t see them often) is lacking but becoming part for the Khalsa is something I have known for years I want to do. So please excuse my wrong terminology because I likely can’t figure out the spellings for everything yet.
