Okay, someone clear up some mechanics for me please

The game has a tutorial but there are a couple of things i need figured out still
What can i block? As in just holding LT
Normal attacks obviously, but im not sure about orange attacks or lows. With weapons, i'm not sure i can block blunt weapons but i know i cant block sharp weapons like knives
Parry: I know I can parry normal attacks, I know i can parry weapon attacks, I'm unsure if i can parry low attacks, low weapon attacks or orange attacks, or low orange attacks Also some parries seem more effective than others, and i dont know if i can block or get hit by an attack first and parry the followup
