A few of my creator friends asked on Twitter if there was a way to partner up and sell a collaboration product.
Meaning they bundle their products together, sell it as a singular product from one storefront, and in the back-end the payments go to each individual creator instantly based on profit-sharing, e.g. 50/50, 60/40, whatever the case may be.
Currently what they do is to rely on 1 principal creator who takes all the payments first and then sends the "share" of the co-creator via PayPal every end of the month.
There are several problems with this:
- It's tedious and requires a lot of manual work.
- It requires a high level of trust between both creators.
- It lacks transparency and there's no info parity between both creators.
I solved this problem by using Stripe Connect to build a platform to sell a collaboration product (where both parties can edit the product page), divvy up the payment to both creators immediately after each transaction, and provide a common dashboard for both creators to view sales analytics.
