Hi all, my partner and I are getting a child placed with us next week, likely for adoption. The child has SCD, associated breathing and spleen issues. The worker said he can’t have a lot of sugary drinks because of SCD and I can’t find anything about why. I’m wondering if they are talking about sodas or teas, due to dehydration risks. Anyone know any info? Any other things we should be aware early on that my extensive googling research wouldn’t tell me? I’ll be meeting with each specialist dr, once we get the child but am trying to prepare myself as a parent for how best to be there.
