My Siberian (Loki) is four years old. We picked him out of the litter because he was the most outgoing kitten and we wanted a cat with a strong personality. Well, we got it! When he isn't sleeping, he is demanding of our attention. He will sit in the middle of the rug and cry for attention. If I get up to play with him, he bounds away and down the stairs towards the apartment door. Or he just lays down on the rug and doesn't move. Or he just walks away from me. He reacts poorly to toys (fishing feathers, lasers, mice, catnip - I've tried just about every type out there). He often wants to go outside, but this isn't always possible: we live on the 5th floor of an apartment building and there is only a paved courtyard out front. I do take him out if it is quiet, but he is terrified if anyone comes along and he runs back into the building.
He adopted my tuxedo girl (Sprocket) as his "mom" when we first brought him home, and our black cat (Coco) just ignored him. Over the last four years, they have all settled into their spots, periodically taking turns chasing and being chased. He will wrestle with Sprocket and she puts up with it - to a point. He never tries to engage with Coco, unless she wants to be chased.
I guess my question is: what toy is out there that I have missed? What other options are there to occupy him? He is food motivated, but the girls are on strict diets and it seems unfair to give him treats when they can't have them. I periodically tell my husband that we should have adopted two Siberians, but since he is already allergic to cats, I think that getting a second one at this point (and a fourth cat) would just be unfair to him :)
Second picture, just in case you thought that there was no access to fresh air
