Hi. To my mind, services like Shudder are the future of movie streaming. I subscribed a while back, attended their Halloween New York event with Joe Bob Briggs which was awesome and generally find the service to be... well, fucking excellent. Choice, curation, branding... I just think it’s great to feel like I’m a part of something that is attuned to the needs of the few rather than a homogenous mass of ‘find what you want’ that is what streaming has become. I’d love a shudder-level version of e.g. Asian cinema or French new wave or any number of niche markets I’m interested in. I hope they become available.
That’s not meant to come across snobby - quite the opposite: I used to buy dvds based on recommendations made by my local fopp (showing my age). I need a curator! Netflix, amazon, etc just don’t fulfill that need!
Anyway, aside from telling folks I know about shudder, how can I help it grow, support it or otherwise spread the word?
