That doesn't refute that if someone has a gun and is knowledgeable about guns they're able to defend theirself from a gun. Good for you living in safe places, I bet you feel like you're way above lots of other people for that and you should 100%

So what I said isn't true? People get shot all the time in major cities in gang violence and then of course the more and more common mass shooting. I'm not saying it's the right thing for everybody to have guns, i myself don't have one, but what I said is objectively true and is a point that's contrary to what OP said. So fuck off with your politically charged downvotes

Yes and also people who don't know about or have guns can't defend theirselves from a gunman who is trying to shoot them, raising their chances of being shot in such situations
