Hey there! I'm trying to speedrun Shovel Knight (mainly for the in-game feat) on the Wii U and I have been following online tutorials that teach how to do speedrunning gameplay moves like tapping the attack button right before landing a jump and stringing those together for really fast hits (shovel jump cancelling).
This may be because I am new to these tactics, but after trying over and over again on the Black Knight battle (and just standing still in grassy areas), I cannot for the life of me seem to be able to do the short attack-jump combo like the tutorial videos show. It occasionally works but even though I am hitting both of the buttons in rapid-fire succession (attack right before I land then jumping again), the results are super inconsistent. Often time my character hops but doesn't attack right before hitting the ground despite both buttons being pressed.
I was wondering if this would be easier with a keyboard? Is it known that the Wii U gamepad buttons don't register input as well, or am I just truly that bad at doing this tactic? I haven't been a part of the Shovel Knight meta long enough to know if this is something people already talk about.
Thanks
