So, I’m thinking of getting into the Dragon Quest games because I love the Final Fantasy games I’ve played, I love Akira Toriyama’s work and also for its influence on gaming. I’m interested to start in the very beginning, even if it’s not the best game in the series. I want to go through all of them and see the evolution over time, but I don’t know which version I should play. There’s a version on Switch and one on iOS, but I have no idea which I should play, if either. I also have a 3DS, but I heard it’s only available in Japan. I heard in a video that the mobile port isn’t that good and that the Switch version is just a port of that.

Or if you think it would be better to start with another game in the series, please let me know which one. I’ve heard a lot of good things about III, but it’s supposed to be really connected to the first two, so I have no idea. Thank you for any help :)
