SIB DayZ on sale if I'm looking for a console game similar to Escape From Tarkov?

I've been enamored with Escape From Tarkov for a while now and I've been wanting to play it or something similar to it, but I'm on console and Tarkov is PC only. DayZ is 50% off, and I'm wondering if it's worth the money, and how similar to Tarkov it is. I've heard about DayZ and I've seen old gameplay footage of it from years past, and I'm curious if anything has changed and if the game has "died" so to say. Also, and a sidenote, does DayZ on console support mods?
