Now I know 10,000% gains in a week is pretty hard to beat and everyone throws around the term xxx is the next xxx all the time. But spwr is the real deal here.
Short interest is 42 million on a 44 million float, pretty similar to ffie right⌠well spwr that isnât where the dd stops in spwr like it does in ffie.
Open interest is 200k meaning this represents around half the shares outstanding. Ffie was way less at the start of the squeeze. Now remember gme, options were what really made them turn off the buy button since the options that wouldâve been exercised that Friday wouldâve represented more than the shares outstanding. If this runs to $20 in the next week or so the open interest on itm calls will easily exceed the float.
The other thing spwr has that ffie didnât is insanely high institutional ownership. Webull shows 150% institutional and corporation ownership. The thing is this isnât just hedge funds going long who will sell when itâs up 100%. Itâs mostly clean energy etfs who each own multiple millions of shares. These will not be sold for a quick profit since they donât rebalance frequently.
Final thing spwr has going is news today. Small news but still good news with their announcement of the Tesla collaboration. Also last week there was some green energy news from the gov. This is looking like the spark that starts the fire.
As a side note on why we are seeing so many short squeezes lately I believe itâs due to the move from t 2 to t 1 and naked shorts getting scared of the impact that will have on how they will manage the naked positions.
TLDR: 100% si and lots of options make stock go very up when lots of buys. If stock go up more and more options đđ
