Back in June of this year, there was a recall issued for CPAP machines used to treat sleep apnea due to potentially toxic foam that could be unintentionally swallowed while using the machine (https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/safety-communications/certain-philips-respironics-ventilators-bipap-and-cpap-machines-recalled-due-potential-health-risks).
It's estimated that 28% of truckers may have mild to severe apnea, and without sleep are at a higher risk for having an accident. The medical advisory board to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration suggests a 90 day time period to allow medical examiners to find a suitable CPAP replacement. There is apparently an oral appliance a dentist can fit you for in the event you can't use your CPAP, but with supply chain being what it is, we have no idea how long it will take the machines to be replaced. And if you have severe, untreated apnea, you are unfortunately placed on leave.
So now we can add "lack of truckers due to broken CPAP machines" to our supply chain issues...(in addition to all the other reasons we have a lack of truckers...)

Side note: Apparently Philips expects to have all the CPAP machines repaired or replaced by September 2022. Source: https://www.medtechdive.com/news/philips-recall-triggers-lawsuits-us-lawmaker-scrutiny/605682/
