Crossing borders while house sitting

Post Body

I have recently been using THS for stays within my province in Canada, but have yet to use it outside of canada. I just got accepted for a stay in Los Angeles which Iā€™m really excited about!

With this being said, I know that you obviously canā€™t tell the borders youā€™re house sitting as you legally require a work visa. Iā€™ve read lots of people saying that you only need to say ā€œvacationā€. This makes me quite nervous as if they ask me where Iā€™m staying, Iā€™m at a loss. I donā€™t want to lie and say an Airbnb, and then somehow get caught in a lie. And if I say Iā€™m staying at a friends, Iā€™m worried their could be complications if I donā€™t know enough information about the person whoā€™s house Iā€™m staying at.

Essentially - I donā€™t want to outright lie but obviously so many people around the world do this with no issues.

I was curious if anyone here has used THS, and if so what they say at the borders? Or if you have any tips in general?
