So this redditor gets fired from their job because they can't contain their somewhat-twisted sense of humor. They really really can't contain it.
Then they come onto reddit to share this experience, and instead of help, they receive a surplus of validation.
Am I the only one who would have laughed as well?
Apparently not the only one.
I would have laughed uncontrollably as well.
k
I am laughing at this right now! So absurd! "Hi, sales guy! My daughter has AIDS!" I mean, I get the really bizarre reasoning but come on, dude!
Customer service jobs never lead to absurd situations. It's definitely okay to laugh in the customer's face when they tell you their daughter has a potentially life-threatening illness.
Who wouldn't laugh at that? That was a completely random thing to say paint doesn't even do shit to people with AIDS
Who wouldn't burst out laughing — and I quote — "uncontrollably" in the workplace at completely inappropriate times?
Correction, that is something that stupid people wouldn't laugh at. Reasonably intelligent people would understand that you were not laughing at AIDS, but at the absurdity of roleplaying a situation where someone with a terminally ill loved one would care about something as trivial as paint gimmickry.
"Reasonably intelligent people" would realize that management threw a curveball at OP and they struck out.
Concerned, confused, and overly protective parents are a thing you're going to run into at a job at Sherwin Williams. They're probably one of the less absurd things too.
If you spend so much time on reddit laughing at edgy shit that you can't help but laugh in a customer's face, then you aren't suited for a job in customer fuckin service! It's common sense.
I get some composure and look around and everyone is looking at me like I'm a huge jackass, and I start to realize this is not something that normal people laugh at.
OP fully understands that they fucked up. Good on them. Now that they recognize the problem, they can work on fixing it.
But not only can reddit not understand, they can't help but contribute to the same damn problem. Out in the real world, the stuff assholes find amusing on this site isn't a punchline; especially in professional environments.
