Mass PM deletion from my list...

I know it says that they are regularly updated and removed when people cancel their ship membership etc. about 2 days ago I counted and I had 49PM today I did it again because the list seemed short to me and 8 of them were removed from my list. Do they do the removals like once every 2 months or once every quarter if so that would make sense if that just happened. Happened to anybody else?
