I was just having a quick look at my Pokédex to see what the encounters for Latios was at, when I noticed I've apparently seen a shiny one. I have previously caught a shiny Latios from this stretch of running away, but I reset over it as it was Modest rather than Timid. Is it even slightly possible the game remembers that?

Or.. shudder.. Have I not noticed one while RAing and ran from a shiny? :(

There is a chance I've seen one in a Secret Base, but I don't remember one.

Either way I'm now making sure I have the sound well turned up and will be paying even more attention. I had been cooking or doing other stuff while resetting but I don't want any more risk.
