If I were only going to play one version of Shining Force 1, including ROM hacks, which version should I play?

I see that there is a Genesis and GBA version, and I'm not sure which version to play. The music is going to be very different between the two versions I imagine, due to the Genesis/MD's distinct sound. I'm also unaware if there are any ROM hacks I should opt for instead of playing vanilla. Any direction you can give is greatly appreciated!
