All of the conversation between Reiner/Bert and Ymir around chapters 40-50 make a lot more sense after knowing the context. For example in Ch. 47 on page 21, Ymir says "Like after I'm devoured by your warriors?!". Something that probably didn't make sense to someone reading that at first makes sense to someone who knows the context, Ymir didn't want to get eaten by a warrior from Marley by siding with Reiner. (funny how she screwed up in the end anyways after galliard munched her up...)
