Does the curse of ymir literally make you drop dead after 13 years? or does it just mean events transpire to ensure a shifter will alwsys die if they make it to 13 years.

when i first read AOT i thought the curse literally meant you'd just drop dead on your 13th year anniversary. but after rewatching the show it seems to me more like the curse of ymir is figurative. and events always transpire to make sure 13 years after they get the titan, they die. either by being eaten by another eldian to transfer the shifter power or by some other means.

you can absolutely die BEFORE this. but it seems like things always transpire to game end a shifter if they make it to 13. it happened to krueger, it happened to grisha, it happened to ksaver, it happened to zeke too i think.
