So in a recent run, there were some enemy mooks that were organized into groups of 5 people each. When combat started I geared up my raiden, and since our expenses were going to be covered, I turned it up to full auto and sprayed the mook group. (Don't worry it was gel rounds)

The problem occurred that there was no other mook group near by to split fire into so it was just one spray at 4S. Everyone said I should just use burst fire as that would do 6S instead.

I guess I just have issue that its more effective that if 5 guys are packed into one grunt group its more effective to fire 4 rounds at them, then hose them down with 10 rounds.

I was wondering if there was a rule I might have missed that applied to this grunt groups and full auto to make it worth using, or if this is just one of those things that Shadowrun says we left realism long ago don't worry to much that a burst is better.

Failing any actual published rules I was wondering if anyone had any house rules about how full auto could be modeled to be properly effective when shooting a single grunt group of packed targets.

I had played with the idea that maybe the base damage rating should be multiplied by the number of people in the grunt group, but that gets out of hand real quick. Now the best I have is increase the damage rating by the number or targets in the grunt group, or maybe number of targets minus one to not give a bonus for the first target. I still feel like there must be a better way to model the idea that unleashing a drek load of shells at a tight packed group of people should be slightly more effective but that much better. So if anyone has any ideas thank you in advance.
