So my story starts in early-mid February. I connected with an old friend or at least I thought it was her…we started talking and traded a bit of crypto. In mid February I get this random message on WhatsApp and I ignore it. He then got aggressive and said play along or pay the price and sent me a photo of me naked. The ones that got me said they hacked into my phone and got the photo, which wasn’t really. I think they took a photo of me in the bathroom as I came out of the shower (yes I get bored easily and watch YouTube in the shower lol) then doctored it to have a stiffy….anyway they then would harass me and say to not lie when talking to them as they had my location (and would give it to me) they had access to my bank app to check it when I did to use it as oh yea you have money, send it now. They started making me pay in crypto which is no retrieval for me so I couldn’t cancel payment. It got to a point where I had paid a lot and when he said he was done he said he demanded more so I snapped at him and he said okay I’ll help you just pay me for this and I’ll do it then you contact me after to reimburse me. He would always contact me after and “made” me pay more. I paid him one last time and cut comms cuz then he tried to be friendly and have regular chats . It all came to a point and I had to come clean to my spouse after another incident happened to leave me 9k in overdraft (remember that “old friend?”Well they sent me a check to send to them in crypto and then the check bounced and came back as a fraud but the money had been spent) and that honestly might be the same person or group of people working together. I cut ties with both and deleted WhatsApp. That “friend” still tried contacting me saying all was fine and that it always happens with asset checks and it’ll clear after a while which I called “her” bs. That same morning his “boss” texted me after I deleted WhatsApp and said “I found out Daniel’s (the scammer name I was given) has been helping you, he is dead now and you owe me more. I came clean and my spouse told me not to worry at which time the threats to send out ramped up and the scammer tried spam calling me to disrupt my phone. As soon as he saw me call the local non emergency police he stopped briefly but continued up til I blocked that and his second number. Only thing to stop him was to to change my phone number and passwords for safety. I’m almost out of my huge debt by grace of family and God, and nothing from the scammer shits since. I got duped bad and I’m never gonna be able to let it go, my main worry is if the so called friend will come knocking at some point because supposedly she was still in the same town I live in until she had to go out of town to attend to a family matter.

Notes is the scammers had poor grammar. Brr for bro or something and gatta for gotta, gat for got. Lots of screenshots required, lots of impatience.

Now I only wish I had found this sub sooner than I did. But I guess now I can help other victims of this because of my experience.
