Hi. I was a victim of sextortion about a month ago. It was terrifying, but I luckily don’t think about it too much anymore.
I still play around a lot on reddit talking to people. Today, I was talking with someone alot, sent them NSFW videos, a face pic, a fake name, etc. He claimed to be living in my city and the whole thing was great, but I began to get a sus vibe when he refused to show hos face at all.
I think I should be okay. The only pic w my face wasn’t NSFW so none of the NSFW stuff had my face in it. I gave a fake name. I didn’t give my phone number.
Based on my last sextortion experience, I think the phone number name NSFW pics w/ face in it was the combo that led me to being sextorted. I think this time, I should be safe. I’m not even sure if he’s a scammer - could have been real, but was unbelievably suspicious. Asked for NSFW face pic after I said it was a limit. Didn’t show face. Etc.
So, for the people who know much more about this than I do:
Did I do enough to avoid the chance of being a victim of sextortion again? Obviously, I wasn’t as careful as I should have been, but would it be possible/easy to sextortion me given the information/images I said I sent? Or should I be okay?
Thank you in advance! Being a victim of sextortion has been very hard. It affected me deeply for weeks. I don’t think about it as often now, but it clearly still affects me. I still want to have fun online - but I want to be safe. Thank you!
