Looking for advice/ encouragement.
Post Body

About 4 days ago I become a victim and am looking for advice/ encouragement. It started by messaging an individual on twitter. Iā€™ll save some details but essentially asking a cam girl to FaceTime. She wanted to FaceTime for $100 via cashapp and I accepted and sent the money and my number. Before the call they asked for a video of me doing something that was pretty uncomfortable for me (it was ALOT, more than just a dick pic, but I thought Iā€™m already $100 dollars in, this is pretty humiliating for me, but whatever. Looking back now, yes that was moronic). And like all the stories go, they asked for more money or they will leak it. They pulled up my age, address, info, and close relatives which they obviously got from a quick google search.

Of course then the terror sets in. I tired to block the number via the phone setting but they bypassed that. I did even actually try to send more money out of panic but likely my bank denied the transaction (Iā€™m hoping the ability to not send any more money deterred them). Ask quickly as I could I got my IG private, deleted my twitter, and tried to switch my Facebook settings to private. I downloaded like 5 third party apps to try and block the number as well. Tbh I have no idea if the apps worked or they just ignored me after I stopped responding to them. They then mentioned two more names of old people in my network that I had no idea where they got the names from which scared me. After a day I realized I had an old TikTok that was public (which they clearly found) and I deleted that as quick as possible. They also mentioned one of my hobbies that would show me in a quick google search. I called the police and of course the advice was block them and cross your fingers.

I hadnā€™t heard anything until last night I got an IG follow request from someone that was clearly fake (all followers from the Middle East, and following all white men). This incident got my anxiety back up and made me nervous again. Iā€™ve since deactivated my IG and Facebook.

I feel a little comfort in knowing that they had the names of all my relatives (whom Iā€™ve notified) but they never sent anything. But still what if they were quick to grab some of my followed from somewhere before I was able to make private and deactivate? I what if they do keep coming back? I feel like Iā€™d give any about of money for the peace of mind.

Some questions I have.

The video they have of me is really embarrassing (I honestly wouldnā€™t care if it was just a dick pic). Is that more leverage for them to keep coming back?

Anything else I can do to tighten up security?

Does anyone see any extra red flags I might want to take care of?

I still just feel frozen in anxiety, and itā€™s so hard to just sit and ā€œhopeā€ nothing is leaked. Id love for something more proactive.
