A list of great tools for Sex Workers
Post Body

Warning: please don’t mention SW-specific tools on this subreddit that can be read by everyone. It can cause issues for some of us

Hello everyone, I wanted to make a Twitter thread about useful tools for sexworkers but realized most of my Twitter followers were clients so I decided to post here. I decided not to post links to the services mentioned to show that this post is not sponsored or financially motivated.

Social Media tools

Social Rise and Postpone are two software that allow you to schedule posts on Reddit. They can help you decide the best time to post on a specific subreddit as well. They are heavily targeting OF creators and are building their solution around that need. I do not personally use it but I think it can be a huge time saver.

Buffer is a social media post scheduler that works with most platforms. It has a very limited free version but it gets decent at 15$ per month.

Tweetdeck is a Twitter client made by Twitter and 100% free. It’s like a pro version of Twitter with the ability to schedule posts and a larger view that allows you to track keywords and trends.

Time saving and automation tools

Calendly and Cal.com are appointment scheduling services that let your clients pick an empty time slot from your calendar. Clients don’t see what’s on your calendar, and you can setup the time slots that they can book from. Cal’s free plan is more generous but Calendly’s paid plan is superior with features such as SMS/email reminders and even deposit payment (via stripe and pupal unfortunately).

Zapier and IFTTT allow you to automate tasks and data transfer from one app to another. For instance IFTTT can connect your Google Calendar to your SMS app on android to send SMS reminders to clients before an appointment.

Beeper and Texts.com are upcoming apps that will allow you to receive all your DMs (Twitter IG texts and more) in one mobile or desktop app. Beeper will have a good free plan and both are in beta testing phase so you can already create an account and try to get it.

ManyChat and Chatfuel are great chat automation tools that allow you to setup a chatbot on Facebook Messenger, Instagram, SMS, and WhatsApp. It can be useful as a first layer of filtering or to quickly answer to repetitive questions. Chatfuel even has a ChatGPT integration.

Digital Marketing: SEO (search engine optimization) and CRO (conversion rate optimization)

Google Analytics and Google Search Console should be installed on your website if you have one. You can do it via the Site Kit plugin if you have WordPress. Analytics will allow you to measure website traffic and conversions, while Search Console will help you see how your website ranks on Google and send Sitemaps.

Ahrefs Webmaster Tools will help you identify anomalies on your website that harm your SEO. It’s free but can be upgraded by an Ahrefs subscription that is quite expensive (>99$/month). At this rate, it will be unprofitable for most but high end escorts/dommes that charge 500 per hour can absolutely see a positive ROI from these 99$, especially if they rely a lot on search engines to get clients.

WP Rocket is a WordPress plugin that makes your website much faster. It’s therefore great for SEO. Con: it costs 59$/year. There are decent free alternatives such as Autoptimize and W3 Total Cache.

If you don’t have a website already, u/duepenalty7994 made a free template just for SW here. It’s the template that powers my website.

Privacy and security

Messaging and communication apps

Proton Mail and Tutanota are two great encrypted email services. Proton even offers a limited free version and they both offer a paid version that you can connect to you domain name to have a custom email like [email protected]

Mailvelope is a Chrome and Firefox extension that helps you encrypt your emails, even if you’re using Gmail or Outlook. It’s free.

Signal is a secure alternative to WhatsApp. It’s 100% open source so you know their security promise is no bullshit (unlike Telegram that is not 100% opensource). The only con of Signal is that it still requires a phone number.

Session and Element are encrypted instant messaging services that do not require a phone number. Session doesn’t even require an email, and make your messages travel from different proxy’s for more anonymity. Element on the other hand is more suited for group communication thanks to its discord-like interface.

Jitsi Meet is an opensource alternative to Skype. It doesn’t require you to login and communications are encrypted. That’s the kind of stuff I use during online sessions.

Password and account security

HaveIBeenPwned will tell you if your passwords leaked online. Simply enter your email and you will know if your passwords leaked.

Bitwarden is a free opensource password manager. This software will generate a secure password for you and remember it. Thanks to its autocomplete feature, it will help you adopt more secure habits with no hassle.

2FAS is a 2 factor authentication app that generates temporary codes on top of your login credentials. It makes it almost impossible for hackers to breach your accounts.

Traffic and online anonymity

If you use your personal computer for your work, these tools can help.

Use Brave or Firefox as a second browser that will use only for SW. In your settings, make sure to block cookies.

Use a VPN like Mullvad to have a different IP address when doing your SW things online. Mullvad is great because it’s a privacy VPN: they don’t ask for your phone number or email. You can pay via bitcoin or even cash.

In your phone and computer’s wifi settings, change your DNS solver by Quad9’s. It’s free and will reduce the chance for your internet service provider to flag you as a SW, and reduce the number of ads you see online.

If you live in a place that’s super anti SW, maybe having a phone/laptop dedicated to SW would be nice. If not, install Whonix. It’s a second OS that runs inside Windows and Mac OS.

Client data management

Tally forms is a form building software that encrypts form response data. You can use it as a contact form in your website or just send a link to your client via a DM or email. The paid plans allow you to enable file uploads, which can be helpful if you collect face pictures, or IDs during the client verification process.

Tresor.it, Proton Drive, and Filen are encrypted file management software. You can store and manage client data such as session recaps there for maximum security. Personaly, I would rather recommend to use something like Obsidian.md if your client notes are mostly text based. I’ve seen people use Notion as well but it’s not encrypted.

Great pieces of hardware

A Logitech Brio webcam if you do online stuff or live streams. There is a cheaper version called the Brio Stream and the c930e that’s also great.

A good DSLR camera to take great pictures and shoot videos. The Nikon D3500 is a great option at a decent price.

A great microphone like the Rode VideoMic to have crisp sound,

A nice ring light that acts as a tripod. I have no specific model to recommend it’s just a lamp.

A good storage solution for your files. If you shoot q lot of content, you’ll need a few terabytes of storage. A NAS such as a Synology Diskstation would be the best option, especially if you move a lot. A NAS is like a hard drive that connects to the internet, so you can upload content on it, even from distance, just like your own Google where you actually own your content and have more storage capacity (up to 128TB)
