When you're booked for another city/country, do you charge the same plus flight tickets, or you add something extra?
Post Body

Hey, I live in Europe, and here it's kinda easy to travel to other EU countries: usually, a 1.5h/2h flight 2h of connections the time waiting at the airport, let's say, 6h in total, plus packing your stuff, arranging the tickets, etc. Let's say, in the end, you invest around 10h. My question is: if someone books you for another country (let's assume you'll invest the 10h that I previously mentioned), how much would you vary your rates? Would you charge your normal hourly rates, plus flight tickets? Or even more? I had initially thought about just charging what I normally charge (without flight tickets) but only accepting bookings of at least 5-6 hours, and getting 50% in advance (to buy the tickets and have some extra cash), but after seeing how much flights are when you book them 1 week in advance connections the time you invest, I'd basically be giving 2 or 3 hours to the client for free and I guess that doesn't make much sense.

However, when people go "on tour", many of them pay their for their own flight tickets and rent an airbnb, and they just hope they'll be hired by many clients while being in the new city, so they basically start working while being several hundreds below 0, while in the scenario that I present, I'd arrive in a city with some hundreds already in my account, then I'd see the client, and I'd stay for a couple of extra days to try getting more new clients.

What do you think about this? What would be the most reasonable way to manage this scenario? Does it make sense to charge the same I always charge plus flight tickets? Something extra? Does it make sense to charge 50% in advance, or should it be less, or more? Thanks a lot!
