Ok, this is far out there but I'm really curious what people think. Without capitalism, would anything like sex work exist? I mean if there were no economic classes, no rich and poor, no property outside of your personal possessions; if everyone had their basic needs guaranteed and worked only for their own enjoyment, the satisfaction of contributing to society, and whatever small favors or gifts they can barter. I know it seems impossible but try to imagine it. I can easily imagine lots of other services still exist in that world -- therapy, massage, medicine, cooking -- but sex work is harder to imagine... Would all the lonely horny people have to survive on casual mutual hookups like Tinder? Would anyone have sex with ugly strangers out of kindness and generosity? What favors would feel like fair compensation if you didn't need them to live?
