Have yall ever seen or got clients from IG?

I'm new to the internet hustle in general. I don't advertise on Ig either ( am I allowed?? or should I be doing this??) anyway I just got someone who is asking to see me because we are in the same city. I don't know if he's serious but just wanted to ask anyways if yall have ever seen a client that messaged u on ig or social media in general. Is it safe? Thanks for anyone who replies.
