Going out to eat (on tour)
Post Body

Excuse me if this has been asked before, but just wondering. When on tour, do you go out to eat like: pubs and sit down places more than eat in/take out?

Been on tour past two weeks, but been finding my motivation to go out to really good restaurants has been hard to muster. One being, Iā€™m trying to rebuild my finances one: so that in itself has made it hard to really go all out. Though I still go to places, as Iā€™m not big on ā€œmeal prepā€ when Iā€™m on the go unless I have a house to cook. Then I donā€™t hardly go out at all lol.

The other thing is the social factor. So far in this two week trip: the only time Iā€™ve gone out to ā€œsit downā€ restaurant has been with clients. Even though some people claim that they ā€œdonā€™t mind eating out aloneā€ the reality is, thereā€™s hardly ever anyone I see eating out alone, except at fast food places or the occasional people at the bar. But itā€™s hard to really strike up conversation when it is not certain there will be commonality.

I used to do the eat out alone thing myself more, but itā€™s losing the appeal for me. I start to hate being the only person alone at a table, or made to feel ā€œweirdā€ because Iā€™m not with somebody. Even sitting at the bar, I get annoyed when some rowdy group comes and sits next to me, and donā€™t even introduce themselves or include me in the conversation despite me being solo.

The only places I donā€™t mind going to alone, are like late night bars and hangout spots. Because by then, people just figure youā€™re trying to have fun or meet someone, and theyā€™re more open to approach.

But to go out to eat, spend $50 maybe even $100 just to eat alone and not have anyone to socializeā€¦Iā€™m just not eager to do it. Occasionally though: if Iā€™ve been around friends and gone out to eat with them a couple times, then I may decide I donā€™t mind going somewhere solo. Because honestly I donā€™t need people at the same table just to eat lol. But itā€™s moreso the annoyance of waiting for food, having drinks, and just not having nothing to fill the time with, except being on the phone: which I also HATE doing. It makes me feel desperate and bored lol.

Not trying to be cynical but, just me and my view after years of touring and seeing different cities. Thoughts?
