I've known this girl for about fifteen years. We dated for awhile after first meeting. Back then she was in the adult film industry. She switched over to seeing clients a few years ago. We live in different parts of the country, sometimes she's in town for work and between appointments we hang out on occasion.
Recently when in town she contacted me in a slight panic saying that she started her cycle so she needed "scented dishes" (that's what the text said) and asked me to go to storeX, pick some up for her, and bring them to her hotel because she didn't have time as she had appointments booked and didn't have time to do it. After a few more texts back & forth she clarified what she meant was scented douches not scented dishes. She said she needed seven.
I was on my way to pick up friends (a couple) and take them to the airport when I got the call. As it were there was a storeX along my route and my friends needed a way to kill time between check-out time at their hotel (not the same hotel) and check-in time at the airport so I figured they could ride along with me.
I told her to send me a screenshot of the exact item she wanted from the storeX website and tell me how many she needed. - She did, kind of. She sent a picture of the store's website showing the partial search results for scented douche and said she needed a "total of 8 to 10". She added that she also needed baby wipes "but NOT brandX". I told her to send me a screenshot of the baby wipes she wanted. Again, I received a screenshot of search results.
I put the douches & baby wipes in my cart then sent her a screenshot of my cart with the message "Tell me if this order is exactly what you wanted. As soon as I hear from you I'll submit it for curbside pick-up and bring it to you." ... Her response: "Good. Thanks."
I placed the order.
She called and told me her client would be there by the time I arrived but she'd make sure they were in the bedroom with the door shut, she'd leave the bolt on the door positioned so I could enter the room (she tried to send me an "e-key" but I'm tech illiterate), and just to be quiet.
When I was on my way though, she sent me a message "This guy is already freaking out. Don't come in."I immediately responded "What do you want me to do with this stuff?"
No answer. I waited at least fifteen minutes, no answer.
So now what? - Well... She's bragged several times about how well this hotel treats her and the deals they give her, she's been staying there whenever she comes into town for years, she refers to at least one of the girls who works there are her "best friend", and I feel like she's told me they know what line of work she's in (but I could be wrong about that last part). So I figure, the most natural looking way to get this stuff to her is to take the shopping bag to the person at the desk and say "This is a delivery for ______ in room X." Surely no one will think twice about that. ... So that's what I did. Then I text her "Your stuff is at the front desk. I handed the bags to _______."
Less than a minute later she calls me cussing me out "Go back and fucking get it from her right now." - "Why the fuck would you leave my stuff with them?" - "I can't believe you fucked up that bad." and different variations of that on repeat.
Somewhere amongst them she said to leave the stuff in the hallway outside her room. I was still in the parking lot so I went back in, got the bags back from the staff, and set them outside her door.
Later she said that I "interrupted her session" so she had to cut it short. And that I exposed her so now she has to cancel all of her appointments and leave town. "How could you fucking do this to me?" - "I can't believe you're this stupid." - "If you don't understand why that was fucked up then you're not someone I want to be friends with." Etc. Etc. ... Again, variations of that on repeat.
I didn't respond at all. She was pretty clear "If you don't understand why that was fucked up I don't want to be friends with you." Well I don't, so I guess we're not so no need to respond.
A couple hours later I received another message from her telling me how badly I embarrassed her. (All of the employees when I dropped off the shopping bags and retrieved the shopping bags were women.) And how I "exposed" her and now the girl working the desk knew she was a prostitute because of what I'd done. She likened it to me leaving a "bag full of condoms" with the front desk and telling them they were for her room. ... I don't really even know how douche works or what it's for exactly. I know it's a feminine hygiene product but that's all I know. I don't know how long it lasts, how it's used, how quickly it's gone through, what it indicates, etc. ... She also said I bought six more boxes than she told me she needed. (But remember, I told her to send me a screenshot of exactly what she needed and then I sent her one of the cart before the order was placed that showed the exact items and how many and had her verify it was what she wanted.)
My questions for SWs are...Is her reaction reasonable? Is a woman receiving a delivery of feminine hygiene products an indication that she's a prostitute? Does that have the same tell as receiving a delivery of condoms? And do you think leaving either sitting in the hallway outside the door of a hotel room is LESS suspicious than handing it to the desk staff as if it's a delivery or more suspicious?
TLDR: I have a personal friend I've known for 10 years who is a SW. She needed some feminine hygiene products but couldn't leave her room/hotel due to in-call appointments scheduled and asked if I would get them for her. I sent her a screenshot of the items I was getting to ensure the items and quantity were accurate; she verified they were. Original plan she came up with was for me to "sneak" into the room and leave them because she'd be with a client. While on my way she told me to abort the in-room delivery plan but did not provide an alternative method of delivery even when asked. I decided the least suspicious method would be for me to hand the shopping bags of goods to the hotel staff as if it were from a delivery service.
That decision angered her significantly, she claims that I interrupted her session which had to be cut short, claims I exposed her as a prostitute to the hotel staff (she's been using the same hotel in this capacity for years), claims she had to cancel all of her scheduled appointments as a result and return home (thousands of miles away) empty handed.
How plausible are those claims?
How egregious was my decision?
