Clients believe the more followers the more establish

Can someone shed some light regarding twitter followers? I have been around for some time and I dont have a third of followers compared to some other ladies that are somehow new to the show and opened their account recently. Now, I am glad they have such a big audience heck I love seeing fellow companions succeed just would like to know if there is something i should do to gain more followers to attract better clientele? most clients believe the more followers the more established.
