I have this outrageous sense of entitlement that being a Canadian sexworker makes me immune to American laws and company policies.
Anyways the owner of my agency told me to download this damn square up app to be able to take credit card payments. My sister uses the same thing for her home business (non-sexwork) and it works great. So I thought, why not!
Used it once for two $300 payments from the same client on the same night. (Couldn’t make up his mind on extending the call or not) The next day square emailed me saying they needed all this extra information to verify the purchase. My boss told me to lie and say I was a consulting company or personal trainer and to just make up a fake invoice to send them as proof. I did, and they decided that they could not support my business for violating their terms of service. Said they would hold my funds for 90 days unless I refunded the money to my customer.
This client was super understanding of the situation an felt bad that it happened to me. Was perfectly fine with just etransfering the money instead when he got the refund on his credit card. (I trust him, he’s a regular of mine) I refund the money back onto his card and Square sends me an email stating the refund with take 3-7 business days.
That was on December 10th... it’s now a month later and he never received the refund. I have a receipt that it went through and everything! He tried calling mastercard but they just said it wasn’t up to them. He even showed me his credit card history to prove he never received the refund and offered to pay me the $600 if I really needed it now. (He books me like twice a week for 2-3 hours at a time I really trust this guys word) Obviously I need the money but I don’t want to take from him when he’s done nothing wrong.
Anyways, I don’t really know what else to do other than call them. Learned an expensive lesson for sure cause who knows what sort of fees they will charge for the initial transaction and refund. They already have my banking information 🙃
