Any tips on taking a dildo anally for the first time?

Recently bought a few sex toys and one of them is an 8 inch possable realistic dildo with a suction cup.
I've been fucking myself in the ass with household items, such as pens, the handles of brushes and other phallic objects, for years but thought it was about time I actually bought something built and intended to go up there.
