Was my first time, went with a date, arrived around 11:30. Very friendly door. Had read the rules twice before, but my mind completely blanked when quizzed. Luckily, my date had her shit together and I easily was able to finish some clues, we made it in.
I had been to the venue before for Power Dance and it was interesting to see how the rooms were used differently. The lasers separating play areas from social were really cool. I had concerns that it would be cold, as it was a bit for PD, but that wasn't an issue at all, save the smoking area, but blankets were provided there.
Solid techno playing on the dance floor, housier vibe in the bigger play area. Good sound, too. Lighting fit the vibe. A number of familiar faces from berghain. Everyone basically wore black, but in fetish gear of some sort. I prefer more color, but when in Rome... Crowd looked queer, but just about any play I saw was between hetero pairing. (not a critique!). I had prepared myself for something like Labdance, but for heteros, and it was close to how my gay friends describe Labdance. It filled up nicely - vibe everywhere, but not too full.
My date played a few times in the bigger room. First time on a swing and wow! There was a variety of surfaces to use, in different shapes and forms, including motorized. Play areas always seemed to have well-blended staff to keep things running smoothly, whether topping up supplies or making sure that guests behaved
Very positive review, but a few quips: This is venue specific, but more bathrooms! There is a block that was closed by the bigger play area. Cold hallways aren't sexy, either. However, the biggest issue for me was that I didn't get the impression that guests were really mingling with each other unless they already knew each other and a friend who regularly goes confirmed. I totally get and respect that the play areas are not for negotiating connection, but the dancers were very serious about dancing and the social areas were not really set up for talking to new people. For starters, more seats, and seats facing each other.
I don't know if I'll be back. The cost to get in was a bit steep. My date and I wanted to meet other people for fun and didn't get inspired with the conditions. Still happy I went, though, and I hope that the venue can evolve (take over ritter butzke!) to be the sex heavy club with good music that we need
