Does the Spring semester starts after thanksgiving?

I’m so confused. I know that every college probably have their own schedules. But I find it weird that the second semester starts after thanksgiving break.
How was your college schedule? Is this normal? Mine has 4 weeks break in December and the Spring semester starts in January.
Also I know climate change and all but you can’t go from snowstorm to playing tennis in a skirt in just a few weeks.
