I have a very specific project in mind for the holidays. I want to get custom metal engraved buttons done for a shirt that is being sewn to fully complete the theme. Downside is, trying to find custom buttons small enough for a shirt is hard. Of the few shops offering metal shank buttons (so the whole face of the button can be engraved), they're no smaller than 17mm. I can find smaller, but only on rivets.
I'm worried about using a 17mm shank button on a shirt, because they may sag. I am considering using rivets instead, like for the button on jeans. I can find a 15mm rivet, but I am worried it might sit too tall. I wish I could just test run these before buying them but since they will be engraved I won't be able to return them! Any advice before I move forward would be appreciated.
