On the bleak shores of Old Wyk, a group of men exist who give their lives in worship to the Drowned God. They claim that since the dawn of days, the Drowned God has spoken to a chosen few amongst them, and that their holy eternal mission is to serve him, so that they might one day he might allow them to join him in his great halls under the sea. They inhabit a set of ancient caves along the north side of Old Wyk, which they claim the Drowned God carved out for them at the dawn of days. The caves sit in the shadow of Nagga's Hill, where Kingsmoots of old were held. Often, drowned priests who travel the Iron Isles will stop there and live among them, relating oral traditions, news and omens and performing rituals.

In recent years, a man known as the Depthcaller has become massively influential, claiming that the Drowned God sends him visions of the future and past. He argues that as the favoured people of the great god, that the Ironborn ought to establish their superiority and dominion over all others, and that all foreign influence should be cast out of the isles, or subjugated as thralls. His fiery preaching has grown in popularity with the people of the island, especially since the Iron Islands declared themselves independent of the rest of Westeros.
