Is it ok for me to refuse to flatshare with a stranger, when our mutual friend suggested we should?
Post Body

I am 27F. My partner recently broke up with me and I went to stay with my parents, 4 hours away from where I live. I asked my friend back where I was living if they knew about any flats or rooms to rent. They'd just taken a picture of a 'flat to rent' sign because their friend (I'll call her Sally, she lives with her parents) is looking for her own place, but they sent the picture to me first. I didn't know that's why they took the photo. I called the landlord and my friend went to view the flat for me. She sent the videos and pics to me and to Sally, suggesting that we live together. I said I wanted to live alone and my friend said she felt really awkward because Sally has been looking for a while and that she'll feel bad if I take the flat when Sally has been looking for a while.

I've met Sally once when I was at the pub with my friends and she was there, but we didn't really speak at all. She is basically a stranger.

I've now been offered the flat, but I don't want to live with Sally, I want to live alone. I can afford to live in the flat on my own and I want some time after the break up but I'm SUPER ANXIOUS about telling Sally this. I've only been living in this area for a year, it's a small town and I don't want her to have a grudge against me and then everyone to be annoyed at me

Is it fair to tell her I don't want to live with someone atm? Is it fair to take the flat for myself? I literally have had butterflies all day worrying about this lol
